Navigating through the deceitful path of a sociopathic killer presents a complex challenge. The graphics serve a dual purpose: guide an informed viewer through the story while also conveying a sense of uncertainty, mirroring the murky truth at hand. MAMMAL integrated such ambiguity into our graphic package, weaving a metaphorical tapestry that captures the duality of the narrative.
Challenges + Solutions
In collaboration with NBC News Studios, MAMMAL joined forces with trusted partner Chris Cassel to craft animated toolkits and treatments. The locators were strategically placed over drone footage showcasing diverse global locations, necessitating tailored adjustments for varying climates. This involved meticulous attention to color grading, adapting to different lighting conditions between night and day footage, and refining camera movements to ensure visual cohesion.
Title Sequence
Maintaining the tactile feel of the graphics, we created a title sequence that incorporates photos of the victims and locations to emphasize the heaviness of the subject matter. The title itself is then split into sharp, angular sections to underscore the unsettling tone.
